Work Health & Safety, Australian Standards & The National Construction Code require all fire safety equipment to undergo routine service, testing and preventative maintenance.

Australian Standards AS1851 (2012) outline the requirements for Inspection, Service and Maintenance, for all systems described in the council registered fire safety schedule. Compliance with Australian Standards ensures your building meets its duty of care in fire protection. Our maintenance and repairs services are designed to minimise disruption and costs for you building, while maximising reliability and performance of your safety systems.

St Florian's offers functional tests, inspections, repairs and maintenance of all your fire protection systems to ensure they are ready and operational when called upon. These services can benchmark the performance of your assets and allow us to issue Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) if required.

Fire safety equipment differs in how frequent it requires a routine service (Table 1.11A; AS1851). For more information, or a personalise quote, please enquire below.

ANNUAL FIRE SAFETY STATEMENT (AFSS)
To ensure your building is capable of meeting the installation and routine testing standards, an AFSS must be completed annually and issued to the local council and Fire and Rescue NSW.
All building owners, excluding Class 1 (houses) and Class 10 (non-habitable buildings), have to submit an Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS).
From 1 July 2020, only persons accredited as competent fire safety practitioners (CFSP), under the FPA Australia Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme, will be licenced to undertake annual assessments. Building owners need to select a CFSP to submit, yearly or supplementary, fire safety statement/s.

"A CFSP is a person that is required to undertake certain specialist fire safety assessment functions required by the Regulation" (NSW Government). The NSW government has put together a guide for building owners, to help select a CFSP. Click here to access the guide.

The licencing is broken into several speciality fields: Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning (HVAC), Sprinklers, Fire Detection and Passive. Our highly trained professionals are able to cover all specialty fields.

AFSS certification ensures that all the aforementioned specialty systems, are in good working condition and comply with the local and Australian fire safety and building standards (i.e. AS1851 and AS2293.2). We will ensure that all fire safety measures are maintained in accordance with clause 182 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000.

A supplementary fire safety statement applies to fire control measures that require more frequent testing and certification (<12months). The Fire Safety Schedule will help to identify these control measures.

Through collaboration with Code One Fire Compliance, building owners will only hold the responsibility of declaring that each fire safety measure has been assessed by one of our competent practitioners and to issue the statement to council and Fire Rescue NSW.
