Australian Standards AS1851 (2012) outline the requirements for Inspection, Service and Maintenance, for all systems described in the council registered fire safety schedule. Compliance with Australian Standards ensures your building meets its duty of care in fire protection. The frequency of service inspections varies depending on what the fire safety measure of the system is. Frequency of testing/servicing is set out in AS1851-2012, table 1.11 and in each section for the specific fire safety system.
A building owner must provide their local council and Fire + Rescue NSW, with an Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS), every year. It is illegal to not have an AFSS displayed. Find out more.
